Recently, the No. 3 production area, through a systematic upgrade of its powder-adding machines, has reduced its annual magnesium powder waste from a staggering 3 to 5 tons to just a few hundred kilograms—achieving savings of more than two-thirds!
This transformation is not only an upgrade in equipment efficiency but also a “triple victory” in cost control, environmental protection, and safe production.
In the past, during operation, the powder-adding machines at the No. 3 plant suffered from issues such as inadequate equipment sealing and imperfect recovery mechanisms, leading to significant leakage and residual magnesium powder throughout the addition and operational processes—creating a “hidden cost black hole” (as shown in the figure above).
Faced with this persistent problem, the equipment and technology team from the Third Production Area established a special task force. After careful investigation and numerous experiments, they modified the powder-adding machine.
After the renovation was completed, the results were immediately evident: annual waste dropped from 3 to 5 tons to just a few hundred kilograms per year, achieving a savings rate of over two-thirds. Material utilization has been fundamentally improved, and just the direct material costs alone now save hundreds of thousands of yuan each year. The uncontrolled emission of dust has been significantly reduced, making the workshop air much fresher and dramatically easing the pressure of waste disposal. This has effectively lowered the risk of combustion and explosions caused by dust accumulation, thereby enhancing workplace safety levels.
Reducing costs and boosting efficiency hinges on action—and even more crucially, on perseverance. The practices at the three production sites once again demonstrate that as long as we uphold a spirit of continuous improvement, look inward, and tap into our full potential, we can create extraordinary value even in ordinary positions, collectively driving the company toward higher quality, greater efficiency, and greater sustainability!
